Case Study: 540kW KOB Pyrot chip boiler for Knox College, Dunedin, NZ

Knox College, one of Dunedin's oldest student accommodation providers, had for years been heated by a sectional coal boiler. The coal boiler required daily half-hour cleanouts by the property team with its particulate emissions frequently causing concern for nearby residents. Faced with an expiring resource consent to emit discharges to air from the coil boiler, Knox College started to look for replacement options and, following a review of alternatives, settled on a choice for a modern biomass-fired boiler.
